The United States approves the use of H5N1 avian influenza virus rapid detection technology
Xinhua News Agency, US Food and Drug Administration approved on April 7 the use of a rapid detection technology for H5N1 avian influenza virus, which can detect whether a person is infected with H5N1 avian influenza virus within 40 minutes.
The U.S. Drug Administration issued a press release that day, saying that this technology was developed by a company in California. Its principle is to determine whether the subject is infected with the H5N1 avian influenza virus by determining whether the NS1 protein is present in the subject. Daniel Schutz, director of the Medical Device and Radiological Hygiene Management Center of the U.S. Drug Administration, said in the communiqué that this technology helps protect the general public from the threat of bird flu.
