According to some surveys, although about 40% of the children in China's cities already own their own homes and furniture, in the first half of 2011 alone, there were more than 20 children's furniture manufacturers exposed by the quality supervision departments nationwide. Taking Guangdong Province as an example, the qualified rate of 62 batches of children's furniture last year was only 67.7%. There were two batches of children's furniture with heavy metal exceeding the standard. One of the children's bedside tables had a measured value of soluble lead exceeding 40 times, and another batch of children's furniture. The amount of formaldehyde released exceeded the standard.
The reporter went to a large-scale home store near Nanmenwai Street in Nankai District of the city. It is understood that the "General Technical Conditions for Children's Furniture" is divided into nine parts, which clarify that the applicable age range of children's furniture is 3 to 14 years old. For the sharp corners, protruding parts, holes, gap size and stability of children's furniture, etc. Clear regulations have also been imposed on the control of 10 toxic and hazardous substances including formaldehyde and soluble heavy metals. According to industry insiders, after the implementation of the new standard, the safety, environmental protection and practicality of children's furniture will be improved and improved, and it will also play a good guiding role for consumers to purchase children's furniture.
