Its mission is to observe global rainfall and snowfall. The "On-orbit Carbon Observer" 2 and "Soil Moisture Active / Passive" satellites will be launched in July and November, respectively. Their missions are to observe carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and make high-precision maps of global soil moisture.
In addition, the two scientific instruments to be installed outside the International Space Station will be launched by the US space exploration technology company "Dragon" spacecraft. NASA said that five Earth observation instruments will be sent to the International Space Station by 2017.
