Britain encourages the use of lightweight glass bottles for wine

The Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) encourages representatives of LIWSF to consider measuring the environmental impact of the most popular wines and white wines. Representatives of LIWSF will learn more about the process of the “Conversion of Bottled Wines” meeting on May 22.

As the United Kingdom is the world’s largest wine importer, it imports more than 1 billion liters of wine each year from Europe and the New World. Of these, 80% are bottled wines. The purpose of WRAP is to encourage the United Kingdom to sell light glass bottles for wine, and at the same time encourage more importers and retailers in the UK to import bulk wines and then divide them into bottles.

Lightweight glass bottles are made using a material that can replace glass. Encouraging the wine industry to import bulk wines can reduce the recycling of glass and also increase the use of lightweight glass bottles. In this way, the cost can be reduced and the same progress can be achieved with environmental protection.

WRAP also recommends that other catering industries use lightweight glass packaging, including spirits and beer.

In addition, some people believe that the bulk loading of imported wine after long-distance import may affect the quality of the wine. For this, WRAP visitors may have the honor to participate in a wine tasting competition. This contest is to ask contestants to taste and distinguish which cups are bottled imported wines, and which cups are original bottled imported wines in order to investigate whether there is a qualitative difference between bottled and bottled wines.
