East China's largest plastic waste recycling center Xinghua City Environmental Protection Industrial Park

In the riverway, hundreds of large ships filled with waste plastics; on the banks of the river, a variety of waste plastics piled up; in the market, transport trucks from both inside and outside the province were parked, and migrant workers were processing a bag with plastic waste. The resulting semi-finished plastic particles are loaded onto trucks... This is the reporter's first impression of the largest plastic waste recycling center in East China, the Xinghua City Environmental Protection Industrial Park.

The director of the park, Yuan Jianghua, introduced the reporter in a vivid manner: “Each year here it can 'eat' 120,000 tons of waste plastic that plagues the city’s “white pollution” and “spew” recycled plastic worth 300 million yuan.”

Where does so much plastic waste come from? Under the leadership of Director Yuan Jianghua, the reporter came to the White Tu River and looked at ships of all sizes. Yuan Yuan told reporters that every day, hundreds of professional marketing vessels and more than 20 trucks connect the park with the garbage transfer facilities in dozens of large and medium-sized cities such as Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Suzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Weihai and Dalian. It absorbs about 400 tons of waste plastics, reaching about 120,000 tons. There are more than 200 recycling and processing companies in the park, each of which is automatically connected with 80 households of waste transportation and sales brokers, and they are mainly local farmers. These brokers are also in contact with tens of thousands of “broken kings” who are actively engaged in the collection and sorting of scrap in dozens of large and medium-sized cities inside and outside the province. The entire waste collection and transportation team has reached 17,000. The annual sales volume of the Industrial Park has exceeded 300 million yuan, with annual profits and taxes exceeding 1 million yuan, and labor costs exceeding 2 million yuan, and triple-income income exceeding 1 million yuan.

How does waste plastic turn waste into treasure? The reporter saw at a recycling company that engaged in smashing processing. The site was full of waste plastics from all over the country. There was a crusher at the center and a dewatering machine next to it. Several busy workers briefed reporters on the process of waste plastics processing. After the waste plastics arrived, they were scored and then smashed. There were impurities in the chips, and they had to be washed with water. After dehydration, they were dried and packaged directly. To be sold, some are processed into plastic particles, and some are processed into plastic products. In the park, there are about 4,000 people who sort out the various types of waste plastics that are continuously transported daily and processed into different grades of plastic particles or fragments. It is understood that, under normal circumstances, for each purchase of 1 ton of waste plastics, profits and taxes can be more than 100 yuan. If processed into particles, the profits and taxes will increase by 150 yuan per ton. Therefore, many owners invest in processing factories. At present, there are more than 30 processing plants in the park, which annually process more than 20,000 tons, and the average income per household is about 100,000 yuan.

In order to prevent the pollution to the environment, the park invested 1.05 million yuan to build a sewage treatment project in the park and has been certified by the provincial environmental protection department. In addition, the park is also actively applying to the State Environmental Protection Administration for its state-level white pollution control and cultivation base.
