Acrylic matting agent

The famous American PMMA manufacturer, Altuglas International, developed acrylic copolymers to prepare crosslinked copolymer Plexiglas BS-100, which can be used as a matting agent for many polymers, including PVC, ABS and PMMA. Plexiglas BS-100 is a tiny bead material with a particle size of 20 to 30 μm. This gives excellent dispersion in polymer processing and can be processed directly with conventional equipment without changing the processing conditions. In addition, the new additive is close to the surface layer in the material, so that the particles impart a certain degree of unevenness to the surface of the processed product, and the uneven surface acts as a scattered light and imparts a uniform matte appearance to the final product.

Plexiglas BS- 100 has a glass transition temperature (tg) of up to about 105 °C and remains matt after thermoforming. In addition, the additive has no negative influence on the mechanical properties such as material impact strength, flexural modulus and strain, and does not reduce the weather resistance of the material (including UV-irradiation resistance). Applications include hard PVC products (extruded opaque furniture panels and thermoformed door panels), semi-rigid and soft PVC products (injected shoe soles and shoes), extruded profiles on automobiles, PVC paste products (floor leather and wallpaper), Electronic and electrical components used in computers and printers. Plexiglas BS- 100 is also an anti-blocking agent for cast and blown films. A small amount of Plexiglas BS-100 beads gives the film surface a slight unevenness that prevents the films from sticking to each other.
