U.S. company develops time and temperature smart labels

A company in New Jersey developed a "Time and Temperature Smart Label." At the moment, France's "different" supermarket chain (a French chain of shops selling cheap goods) uses this label on many fresh foods. It can track and monitor the environmental temperature and time of preservation of food bags, increase the transparency of food quality, and make consumers understand the quality of food at the same time.

This smart label is shaped like a bull's eye. It consists of two rings inside and outside. The dark ring is surrounded by a light-colored ring. The light ring in the middle contains a chemical substance and is a polymer filter. As the state of food preservation changes, its color changes from light to dark, and if the food is kept at a lower temperature, the change is very slow: However, if the temperature rises, the change will be accelerated. The production of bacteria is also related to the temperature, and consumers can see whether the preservation of the food is good according to the color change of the label. If the inner ring becomes dark, it means that the food may not be too fresh. Few customers return home or complain because of food spoilage.
