Extreme sports and rock climbing development

Rock climbing, skateboarding, in-line wheels, bicycles...
These originated in the extreme sports of the United States,
A new wave of sports has been formed in Asia and Taiwan!

X-Games first originated in the United States. Since 1998, the Asian region has hosted the "Asian Extreme Sports Qualifier" in Phuket, and the rock climbing project has also been formally incorporated. Since then, each year's Extreme Games have attracted Asian boulders and sprint champions to compete and compete to participate in the "ESPN Extreme Sports Games" held in the United States. In November this year, the "First Asian Extreme Sports Championship" will be held in Taipei. This will undoubtedly create a new development space for domestic rock climbing.

What is extreme sports?
Since the first "ESPN Extreme Sports Games" was held in Newport, United States in 1995, this boom has gradually spread around the world. Until this year, the extreme sports have been eight years old and were held in places such as San Diego, San Francisco and Philadelphia. In addition to the United States, the Extreme Sports Games also has a four-year history in Asia. The first three years were all fixed in December each year in Phuket, and this year it will be replaced by Kuala Lumpur. As for the rock climbing competition, except for the difficulty race held in 1998, only the bouldering and speed races were followed. This year, in order to compete for participation in the 8th ESPN Extreme Sports Meet held in Philadelphia in the United States in August, 200 skilled players from more than 10 countries across Asia participated in the competition. The competition included rock climbing, skateboarding, in-line wheels, bicycles, and slides. There are five types of water, among which the climbing project is divided into bouldering and speed racing. In order to improve the visibility and promote the atmosphere of the crowd, this year's rock climbing competitions have all changed to the "After Training" exhibition competition mode. That is, each player can try to climb the game route before the game to show the audience the most skillful movements. Difficult climbing skills, really meet the limits of the challenge, beyond the pinnacle of the realm!

2002 Asia Extreme Games
From January 27th to February 3rd, the 7th Asian Extreme Sports Qualifier and the 3rd Asian Youth Extreme Sports Games kicked off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The competition was held in the square in front of the well-known local "King of Gemini Stars" (KLCC). Since the venue was located in the center of the city, and the organizers vigorously promoted, the daily schedule attracted many people who love extreme sports. In addition, the General Assembly is still working with manufacturers and related organizations to arrange special events such as commodity exhibitions, hot Air balloon lifts, tower parachuting and F1 Formula One contests during the competition, so that all the players from all over the world can be worthwhile! In this competition, Huang Baile, Xie Shengcai, Xie Shengzhao and the author of the four companies signed up to participate in the competition, and they also travelled with friends. Among them, Huang Baile and Zhang Kerou had participated in the Extreme Sports Games held in Phuket as early as the end of the previous year, and they were ranked 6th and 8th respectively in the bouldering competitions. This year, although Australia, Japan, and South Korea did their best, Huang Baile still maintained the standard and won the sixth place. As Malaysia has successfully won the right to host for three years, the Asian Games of 2003 and 2004 will still be held in Kuala Lumpur.

Asia's Extreme Sports Climbing Stars The bouldering event at the Asian Extreme Sports Qualification has traditionally been dominated by South Korea, Japan and Australia. Among them, the most notable is South Korea's "Bouldering King" Li Zairong. He not only won the bouldering championship for three consecutive years, but also won the gold medal at the first Asian Bouldering Championships held at Yu Yonghe last year. In the part of the sprint competition, almost all of Indonesian athletes have been the top few in previous years. Of course, this year is no exception. Among them, Indonesian competitor Etti Hendrawati also won the championship after three years in a row, and won a gold medal at the ESPN Extreme Sports Games held in San Francisco in the United States in 2000. As for other players, Japan’s Okano Kanano, currently ranked No. 1 in the World Cup bouldering game, is second in the rankings; Australian world-class player Samantha Berry has taken off the crown of the women’s bouldering race. As for the young people group, Australian teenagers Tim Clarke and Elizabeth Hall can be described as champions. They won this year's men's and women's bouldering-speed combined championship.

Extreme Sports Taiwan's extreme sports in Taiwan has many years of development history, but the rock climbing project is still independent of the "3B" (ie, skateboarding, in-line wheels, bicycles), the unit is also different. On the one hand, it is because climbing sports originate from the field of mountaineering or technology climbing. The nature of street sports is different from that of 3B. On the other hand, it is because the venue of the climbing competition project has to be set up separately and it is often used in the event of insufficient funding for activities. Forced to cancel. At present, only Taichung’s Tokaile Rock Field in the country combines climbing and 3B driving range. In addition, the Zhongshan Football Stadium also plans to affix a tempo venue in order to combine with the existing 3B extreme sports field, and for November’s Preparation for the "First Asian Extreme Sports Championship". In addition, the China Mountain Association, which is in charge of rock climbing, and the Extreme Sports Association, which is responsible for the 3B project, also need to strengthen cooperation and contacts in order to select and train outstanding players to win glory for the country.

Future developments In addition to Asia, Europe and Latin America have begun to add qualifications for extreme sports. In addition to the qualifications for fixed sports in each year, the Asian region also began to have the X-Tours. In 2001, they set up stations in Shanghai, Bangkok, Manila, Singapore and Taipei. In the future, extreme sports will inevitably become a hot item and mainstream of sports. If combined with extreme sports, the development of rock climbing will undoubtedly have a new opportunity. In short, only by taking the streets and getting close to the masses will rock climbing become a true national sport; only strengthening the integration with companies and the media will enable Climbing to develop professionally and sustainably.
